1. I sign up for races because I want to enjoy that particular race; not because someone else is signing up for it. Peer pressure usually doesn’t do much for me. I have my own mind that I can make up for myself.
2. I run with a group because on that particular day, in that particular moment that’s what I felt like doing. A running group is a great resources for accountability when you need that extra push. And sometimes…I do want to be around other people for a little extra motivation.
3. I run solo because sometimes I need to have a LONG chat with God’s son about my day, week, month, year. No need to further explain this one.
4. I run because I do not want to have to stick myself with a needle multiple times a day. Diabetics have to do that and I don’t want to; nothing about insulin shots looks fun.
5. I run because I do not want to have to prick my finger multiple times a day. My mom is a diabetic and when I go home I have to watch her do that. She handles her disease like a champ and has managed to keep it under control through her diet. But I had her prick my finger one day to test my sugar on her little machine. Nah doc!!! I can’t do that 3-4 times a day. It hurt.
6. I run because I do not want to have to take multiple pills multiple times a day. No need to further explain that one.
7. I do not care if my hair gets sweaty when I run. It will dry. And it won’t be the end of the world. I have locs. They can get wet. And I won’t melt.
8. Yes I will spend more than expected on the right sports bra. Seriously…noone wants to see ALL THAT flapping about. They need to be kept in and I’d prefer for them to not be to my ankles before I turn 40.
9. I’m not competitive. But I do compete with myself. So glad running isn’t a team sport. LOL. My team wouldn’t like me very much.
10. I’m a creature of habit. I have the same pre-race/pre-run routine. And I get really frustrated if it’s thrown off in any way. That day when ALL of my routine was off…I had a HORRIBLE run. Stick with what I know. It works.
11. I do my own independent research on things I want to know when it comes to my health. Google is my friend. I’ve learned quite a bit about everything from nutrition to gear to cross training ideas. Anything anybody wants to know is out there.
